Our Assessment: This Browning Safari Grade rifle, manufactured in Finland by Sako and chambered in the flat-shooting .22-250 Remington, is a beautifully preserved example of mid-century sporting excellence. With its Sako-built action and Browning’s Safari branding, this rifle blends legendary European precision with American market sensibility, delivering both performance and aesthetics in a highly desirable package.
The rifle features a 22” barrel with no provisions for iron sights, keeping the lines sleek and the profile ideal for scoped precision. The blued metal retains 99% of its factory finish, and the action is adorned with tasteful floral engraving on the floorplate and trigger guard. It’s mechanically tight with a smooth bolt throw and a solid-feeling hinged floorplate magazine system.
The checkered walnut stock has a high-gloss finish and classic lines, including a straight comb and cheek piece, and a Browning-branded buttplate.
