Our Assessment: This is a Norwegian Krag-Jørgensen bolt-action rifle that has been sporterized and rechambered to 6.5mm Carcano, featuring a 21-inch barrel and originally manufactured in 1902. While it began life as a Norwegian military rifle chambered in 6.5x55mm, this example has undergone significant modifications, including a shortened barrel, altered stock, and conversion to the rimmed 6.5mm Carcano cartridge—a highly unusual and non-standard chambering for the Krag platform. Due to these extensive alterations and caliber conversion, the rifle no longer qualifies for C&R status, but it remains a fascinating oddity—a hybrid of Norwegian engineering and Italian ammunition. Make sure to inspect our detailed pictures to get a better idea of the firearm. -C.R.
