Year of Manufacture: The receiver was made ca. 1972-73, we do not know when this rifle was modified.

Caliber: The barrel is marked “7MM -.300 WIN. MAG. IMP.”. This rifle comes with a die set.

Action Type:  Bolt Action 

Markings:  The left side of the receiver is marked “6586087” and “Remington / MODEL 700”.  The left side of the barrel is marked “7mm – .300 WIN. IMP.”.  The right side of the chamber has a proof.  The standard barrel address and markings are now on the bottom of the barrel, concealed by the stock, due to the barrel being set-back and re-chambered.

Barrel Length: 25 ¼ ”.

Sights / Optics:  The top of the receiver is drilled, tapped, and filled for scope mounts, two-piece Leupold-style bases and 1” rings are installed.  

Stock Configuration & Condition:  The stock is a one-piece black and white composite stock with pistol grip, monte carlo comb, Remington rubber buttpad, and two sling studs.  The LOP measures approximately 13 ¼ ” from the front of the trigger to the back of the black rubber buttpad. The stock rates in Excellent condition.  There is no visible handling wear.  

Type of Finish: Stainless & Blued

Finish Originality: Original to the parts. The rifle has been customized, the barrel is not original to the receiver.

Bore Condition:  The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.  

Overall Condition:  There is operational wear on the barrel and blueing loss and oxidation on the receiver. The markings are clear. The screwheads are strong and sharp. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good Plus condition as customized.

Mechanics:  The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment:  This is a Remington 700 that has been modified by Gunwerks. The receiver was made in 1972 or 1973;  the barrel in 2012.  The barrel has been set back and re-chambered for a 7mm wildcat cartridge based on the .300 Winchester Magnum and comes with its matching Die Set. We are not certain of the exact chamber specifications, it should be cast to confirm before firing.  The bolt is original and its serial number matches the receiver’s. 

The purchaser should verify the chambering and then enjoy a very rare cartridge and its performance.
