Markings: The left side of the slide is marked “HECKLER & KOCH GMBH / OBERNDORF/N MADE IN GERMANY 9mmx19”. The right side of the slide is marked “16-132878 HK Inc. Sterling VA WARNING REFER TO OWNER”S MANUAL”. The right side of the frame is marked “16-132878 M8 AE” with proofs.

Sights / Optics: Three dot night sights dovetailed to the slide. The sights were replaced sometime after 2009. The tritium lamps glow dimly in low light conditions. 

Stock Configuration & Condition: The pistol has replacement Karl Nill wood grips featuring fine checkering and HK logos on both sides. The grips have no chips or cracks. The right panel shows a small line about mid height to the left of the grip screw. Overall the grips are in Excellent Condition.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the polygonal rifling is well defined. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10/10.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains 99% of its finish. The finish is just barely thinning at some edges from storage. There are scant faint handling marks. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are crisp. The slide has begun to turn a plum hue. The barrel shows basically no rub wear. Overall, this handgun rates in about Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. This pistol features a gas-delayed delayed blowback system. The pistol’s action is cocked by squeezing the fore strap of the grip frame, delivering a smooth, short trigger pull. The pistol has an ambi magazine release. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Magazine Quantity & Condition: This pistol includes 2 magazines marked P7M8. The magazines are in Excellent condition. 

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol includes the cleaning brush, tool, the 2 magazines, manual, warranty card and spent case and info card.   

Our Assessment: The HK P7M8 made in 2004 is one of the final iterations of the iconic P7 series, known for its unique squeeze-cocking mechanism and gas-delayed blowback system. This model is chambered in 9mm and offers a fixed barrel, which contributes to its outstanding accuracy. The P7M8 features a slim, all-steel construction with superb fit and finish, making it both durable and elegant. The 2004 production date places it near the end of P7 manufacturing, adding to its collectability and appeal among enthusiasts.

This particular example is enhanced with Karl Nill wood grips, which provide both ergonomic comfort and classic styling. The installed night sights improve low-light usability, making it suitable for defensive or duty use despite its refined presentation. Included are two magazines, the original serialized box, the factory cleaning tool and brush, a spent shell case, and the information card, making this a near complete collector’s set. As a late-production P7M8, it represents the culmination of HK’s engineering excellence in this design, offering both a historically significant and mechanically sophisticated shooting experience.
