Sights / Optics: The front sight is a serrated blade pinned to the vent-rib. The rear sight is a rectangular notch sight pinned to the top strap, adjustable for elevation and windage. 

Stock Configuration & Condition:  The grips are two piece checkered wood with Gold Colt medallions at their tops and finger grooves. The backstrap is serrated. The checkering is crisp and the peaks are sharp. There is no notable handling wear. Overall the grips rate in Excellent condition. 

This revolver comes with an two extra sets of grips:

Two piece gray wood laminate with Colt rampant inlays. There is no notable handling wear. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Excellent condition. 

Its original checkered walnut target stocks with gold Colt Rampant Medallions in Excellent condition. There are light signs of previous handling.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 10/10.

Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 99% of its finish. The balance of the finish shows light signs of previous operation. The cylinder has a thin crips turn line through the finish. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this gun rates in Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The lock-up on this revolver is solid, with no play when the trigger is depressed. The action functions correctly. We have not fired this revolver. This revolver has a wide target style hammer and a serrated trigger. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This revolver comes with a Colt Zipper Case and extra two grip sets as mentioned above. 

Our Assessment: The Colt Python is widely considered one of the finest production revolvers ever made, and this 1968 example embodies everything that made the Python legendary: a flawless Royal Blue finish, precision lockwork, and that unmistakable smooth Colt double-action trigger pull. Manufactured during the peak of Colt’s hand-fitting era, this Python features a 4” vent-rib barrel, fully adjustable target sights, and comes equipped with its original wide target hammer and serrated target trigger—traits that made the Python a favorite among target shooters, law enforcement, and collectors alike.

This revolver is in Excellent condition, retaining about 99% of its original finish with only a faint turn line on the cylinder and light operational wear. The bore is pristine, and the mechanics are tight, with solid lockup and flawless function in both single and double action. In addition to its factory wood grips with gold Colt medallions, this Python includes two additional grip sets—gray laminate grips and a second set of original-style walnut target stocks—making it a standout package for collectors.
