Our Assessment:
This is a World War II-era Remington Rand Model 1911A1 pistol, one of the most iconic American sidearms ever produced. Manufactured in 1945, this example represents one of the final batches assembled as the war drew to a close. While Remington Rand had no previous firearms manufacturing experience, they quickly became one of the largest producer of M1911A1 pistols during the war, contributing nearly one million units.
This particular pistol has undergone a post-war arsenal rework, evidenced by its parkerized finish and the replacement of original grip panels and barrel. Such updates were common as the U.S. military maintained service pistols well into the Cold War era. Despite the changes, the original Remington Rand frame and slide remain intact, and all markings are clear and correct for the period.
For collectors of U.S. military firearms, this 1911A1 offers a piece of tangible World War II history. It would make a strong addition to a martial arms collection and remains a powerful shooter for those who appreciate the rugged reliability of the 1911 platform.
