Our Assessment: The Colt Detective Special is one of the most iconic snub-nosed revolvers ever produced, known for its balance, smooth action, and concealed-carry suitability. This Third Issue example, made in 1971, showcases Colt’s traditional quality with a factory nickel finish and original checkered walnut grips.

Colt designed the Detective Special as a short-barreled version of their Police Positive, giving it a 2-inch barrel and 6-shot capacity—an advantage over the five-shot snubbies from competitors. This revolver reflects the transitional styling of the Third Issue with its shrouded ejector rod, making it a more modernized carry option in the early 1970s.

This is a solid collector-grade piece for fans of Colt revolvers or those seeking a period-correct defensive sidearm. Its C&R eligibility and sharp condition make it even more desirable. Please see our high quality photos and good luck on your bid -M.C.
