Our Assessment: The Winchester Model 61 in smooth bore configuration is a rare and collectible variant of the iconic pump-action rimfire rifle. Designed specifically for .22 shot shells, it was marketed as an ideal tool for small game and pest control, particularly in close-range environments such as barns, sheds, or gardens.
This example, made in 1952, remains in remarkable Excellent condition with over 98% original finish and very clean wood. The smooth bore is bright and corrosion-free, ideal for its intended purpose. The sight is still intact, and the action cycles smoothly, a testament to Winchester’s reputation for precision craftsmanship.
