Our Assessment: The Winchester Model 42 is a scaled-down version of the famous Model 12, designed specifically for the .410 bore. Introduced in 1933, it quickly gained favor among upland hunters and small-game enthusiasts for its sleek profile and reliable performance. Produced during the golden era of Winchester craftsmanship, the Model 42 remains a beloved classic among collectors and sportsmen alike.
This example, manufactured in 1962, is a late production piece with fine original finish, desirable 26” barrel, and full choke configuration. The honest wear on the wood and bluing gives it character, while the solid bore and smooth action ensure it’s still ready for the field.
Whether you’re a fan of .410 shotguns, a Winchester enthusiast, or simply appreciate fine American craftsmanship, this Model 42 is an excellent addition to any collection. Please see our high quality photos and good luck on your bid! -M.C.
