Our Assessment: This 1990 Browning Model 12 Grade V in 28 gauge is a high-grade reproduction of the legendary Winchester Model 12, crafted in Japan by Miroku under Browning’s supervision. This pump action shotgun features a 26 inch barrel with a ventilated rib and fixed modified choke, making it an excellent choice for upland game hunting or clay target sports where fast handling and tight pattern control are desired. The receiver and barrel are deeply blued to a high gloss finish, and the action remains as smooth and reliable as the original Model 12 design that made it a favorite among American sportsmen.
What truly sets the Grade V apart is its exquisite high-grade walnut stock, adorned with fine hand-cut checkering and a rich gloss finish. The receiver is extensively engraved with scrollwork and game bird scenes, showcasing skilled craftsmanship and adding a touch of formality to its classic lines. Only a limited number of these shotguns were produced in the early 1990s, making them highly desirable to collectors. Combining classic styling, top-tier workmanship, and the sweet-handling characteristics of a 28 gauge pump, the Browning Model 12 Grade V is both a functional field gun and a showpiece worthy of any fine shotgun collection.
