The screw heads are sharp with the exception of the hammer pivot screw and right nose cap screw which have light damage to the slots. Overall, the rifle is in Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The lever action is smooth. We have not fired this rifle. The dust cover is still in place and functions correctly. The hammer has a half cock safety position. As with all previously owned firearms, thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box Paperwork and Accessories: None.
Our Assessment: The Winchester 1873 is the Western firearm. Many pictures of these rifles with famous frontiersmen like William Cody exist and are testaments to their popularity. This rifle should be a pleasure to shoot since the .44 WCF cartridge develops little recoil and is readily available today. As an item which will generate much interest as a part of anyone’s collection this rifle will be a pleasure to own. -EB
