Our Assessment: This Beretta made M1 Garand, produced in 1955 and fully outfitted with original Beretta parts, is a highly regarded example of post-WWII international arms collaboration. After the war, Beretta, already one of Italy’s oldest and most respected firearms manufacturers began producing M1 Garands under license using U.S. supplied tooling. These rifles were manufactured to exceptionally high standards and served both Italian forces and allied nations under military aid programs. Beretta Garands are known for their precision machining and smooth operation, often considered by collectors to be some of the finest examples of the platform ever made.
The “FKF Nr” marking on the receiver bevel signifies Danish military ownership, with “FKF” standing for “Forsvarets Krigsmaterial Forvaltning” (Danish Defence War Materiel Administration), and “Nr” (short for “Nummer”) indicating the rifle’s individual inventory or serial number in Danish service. Denmark acquired these rifles for use during the Cold War as part of NATO standardization efforts. Many were issued to the Royal Danish Army and Home Guard, often seeing relatively light use. This Beretta M1 Garand with full Italian parts and clear FKF Nr markings is a rare and collectible piece that bridges the legacy of American design, Italian craftsmanship, and Danish Cold War defense.
