Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “DIAMONDBACK / .22 LONG RIFLE”. The right side of the barrel is marked “COLT’S PT.F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A.”. The crane cut is marked “R57412” , and the crane is marked “57412”. The left side of the frame features the Rampant Colt logo. The sideplate has the Colt medallion on both grip panels.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a serrated ramp blade fixed to a raised base on the barrel. The rear sight is a square notch that is adjustable for windage and elevation.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are checkered walnut with silver Colt medallions. The grips exhibit only minor handling wear with crisp checkering and no cracks or chips. The grips rate in about Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright, the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9/10.
Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 98% of its metal finish. There are faint handling marks. The screw heads are sharp. The pins are unmarred. The markings are clear and sharp. Overall, this revolver rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The lock-up is tight with minimal play. The timing is proper and the trigger is smooth in both single and double action. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: Included is the original Colt woodgrain box (serial number-matching), owner’s manual, and associated paperwork.
Our Assessment: The Colt Diamondback in .22 Long Rifle is a classic rimfire revolver built with the same high-quality standards as its bigger brother, the Python.
