Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 75% of its original parkerized finish. The balance of the finish shows thinning on the front strap, edges of the slide, and contact points. There are some areas of mild oxidation and surface scuffs from typical service use. The screw heads are lightly tool-marked with serviceable slots. The pins are clean. The markings are sharp and fully legible. Overall, this pistol rates in about Good to Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol includes one magazine and a factory letter authenticating its production and details.
Our Assessment: The Kongsberg M1914 is a unique and highly collectible variant of the Colt 1911, manufactured under license by Norway’s Kongsberg Våpenfabrikk. This example, made in 1941, falls squarely within the core of World War II-era production but was completed before full German control of the plant, as indicated by the absence of any Waffenamt markings.
While the barrel is not matching, all other serialized components are numbered to the frame, which adds to the pistol’s desirability. The original finish shows honest wear, and the bore remains in excellent condition — a rare find for a military-issued sidearm of this vintage.
This is an excellent opportunity for collectors of European martial pistols, Norwegian military arms, or M1911-pattern handguns. The included factory letter further enhances the historical provenance of this piece, making it a standout addition to any serious collection.
