Markings: The left side of the receiver is marked “6440” The bottom of the barrel is marked “6440/s” with a crowned N proof. The right side of the barrel extension is marked with a Crowned proof. The top of the toggle is marked “DWM”. The front of the frame is marked “6440 / s”. The side plate is marked “40”. The baseplate of one magazine is marked “7728”. The baseplate of the other magazine is marked “5408 / f” with a Waffenamt over 63.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a fixed blade, and the rear sight is a notch integrated into the rear of the toggle assembly.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are 2 checkered wood panels. There are light scratches and compression marks present. The checkering is defined. There are no chips or cracks. The grips rate in Very Good condition.
Magazine Quantity & Condition: This pistol comes with two magazines in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright, the rifling is sharp. There is some light erosion. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 8/10.
Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 85% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows some light holster holster wear along the muzzle, high edges, and toggle. There is some thinning of the blueing on the grip frame. The screw heads are serviceable, and the markings remain clear. The pistol rates in Very Good overall condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The toggle mechanism cycles smoothly, and the safety, magazine release, and other controls operate properly. We did not fire this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes with two magazines as mentioned above and a leather holster dated 1942.
