The left side of the trunnion is marked “5808928” and “SA VZ 58 Sporter Cal 7.62×39”. The left side of the receiver bears the Czech Small Arms coat of arms. The right side is marked “CZECH SMALL ARMS / CZECH REPUBLIC CZECHPOINT KNOXVILLE. TN”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a hooded post adjustable for elevation. The rear sight is a tangent leaf adjustable for elevation to 800 meters.
Stock Configuration & Condition: This rifle features a fixed military-style stock with original Czech composite “beaver barf” furniture—a blend of wood chips and resin used for durability. The pistol grip and handguard are also made from this distinctive material. The furniture shows minor field wear typical of surplus parts, while the newer components are in excellent shape. The fixed stock is sturdy and tight. Overall, the furniture rates in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There is no visible erosion. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9.5 out of 10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains over 90% of its finish. The newly manufactured components show minimal wear, while the surplus parts show age-appropriate service wear. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good to Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The safety, trigger, and magazine release operate smoothly. The fixed stock is secure. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle includes four detachable magazines, a bayonet with scabbard, a military-style magazine pouch, and a green nylon sling.
