Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “MADE IN NEW HAVEN CONN. U.S. OF AMERICA – WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL – WINCHESTER TRADEMARK – MODEL 70 – .270 WIN.” The Winchester proof mark is present on the barrel and receiver. The serial number “515934” is marked on the right side of the receiver.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a brass beaded blade protected by a hood. The rear sight is a folding leaf with a square notch, adjustable for elevation. A Leupold Vari-X II 3–9x scope is mounted on the receiver using Leupold rings and bases. The scope has clear glass and shows minor external handling wear, rating in about Very Good to Excellent condition.
Grip Configuration & Condition: The stock is a checkered walnut Monte Carlo-style stock with a pistol grip and cheekpiece. There are scattered handling marks, small scuffs, and compression marks throughout from typical field use, but no cracks or major damage. The checkering remains defined. The stock rates in about Very Good condition.
Magazine Quantity & Condition: Internal magazine with hinged floorplate, in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion and only light fouling. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains approximately 90–92% of its original blued finish. There is light thinning on the bolt knob, floorplate, and leading edges of the receiver. Minor scratches and edge wear are present on the barrel from typical handling. The screw heads are sharp. The pins are clean. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The bolt cycles smoothly and locks up firmly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
