Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion, just some minor fouling. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9.5/10.
Overall Condition: This revolver retains approximately 98% of its original blued finish. There is a thin turn line on the cylinder and faint handling marks, but the high edges remain sharp with strong finish throughout. The hammer and trigger are both the wide target-style configuration. All markings are clear and crisp. Overall, this revolver is in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly in both single and double action. The lockup is tight and the timing is excellent. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Our Assessment: The Smith & Wesson Model 19 was developed with the input of famed lawman and gun writer Bill Jordan as a more refined and portable alternative to the large-frame .357s of the 1950s. The result was a K-frame revolver built to handle magnum power with smooth target handling. The 19-3 variant is among the most desirable, offering classic features such as a pinned barrel and recessed cylinder.
This example sports the rare and desirable 2.5″ barrel configuration, ideal for concealed carry or fast, close-quarters use. The wide target hammer and trigger, red ramp front sight, and adjustable rear sight make it just as suitable for serious target work. With 98% of its blued finish retained, a crisp bore, and excellent mechanics, this 1974 production revolver is both collectible and range-ready.
Whether you’re a fan of classic Smiths, want a practical carry revolver with history, or are building out a vintage wheelgun collection, this Model 19-3 checks every box with style and function. So bid high and bid firm. I highly encourage you to take a look at the condition of the item in our high-quality photos. Good luck with your bid. -K.F.
