Markings: The bottom side of the receiver has the serial number “121520”. On top of the receiver it reads “Marlin Safety”. Where the receiver meets the stock it reads “ Model 1894”. On top of the barrel where it meets the receiver it reads”44W”. Farther down it reads “MARLIN FIRE-ARMS CO, NEW-HAVEN, CT. U.S.A.” Just below that it reads “PATENTED OCT. 11. 1887. APRIL. 2. 1889.”

Sights / Optics: Buckhorn rear sight and brass blade front sight
Stock Configuration & Condition: Wood straight grip stock. The length of pull is 13 inches. All of the furniture is in Fair condition with many imperfections.
Type of Finish: The blued finish is very worn.

Bore Condition: The bore is worn. There is moderate erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 4/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 50% of its finish. Both the wood and metal finish are quite worn, but considering how old the gun is, it isn’t surprising. There are many surface imperfections throughout the rifle.This writer would give the overall condition of this rifle as Good.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
