Our Assessment: The 1911 has long been America’s favorite handgun. Advances in materials and manufacturing processes helped to improve the original design, with models today available with exotic metal alloys, different barrel lengths, and chambered in a myriad of calibers. Stainless steel saw use by a few smaller manufacturers for 1911 pistols before Colt made one, but once Colt started using the material, they commemorated the change with a special run of 1,000 pistols from their Custom Shop, the “Silver Star”. This is one of those thousand pistols, in Excellent condition. This is a wonderful piece for any collection, especially for Colt or 1911 collectors. Please see our photos and good luck!
