Our Assessment: This Colt Double Eagle is a First Edition, one of the earliest of its kind. It is a single and double-action semi-automatic pistol chambered for .45 ACP. The Colt Double Eagle line was a series of Colt pistols, essentially double action versions of Model 1911s, manufactured from approximately 1990-1996. The Double Eagles operate with the same Browning designed pivoting barrel which was used by the Government Model, but have a double action trigger which is quite similar to the conversions performed by Seecamp, a decocking lever reminiscent of Sig Sauer’s, and squared off combat trigger guard. This 1st Edition has little in the way of wear appearing to have spent more time in its included case than out. This is a great opportunity for the Colt collectors who haven’t added a Double Eagle to their stable and especially for those who missed out on the First Editions in 1990. Please see our photos and good luck!
