Markings: The left side of the frame has two Italian proof marks and the “CP” date code. The left side of the barrel is marked with two proof marks. The bottom of the barrel is marked “SH38285”, “dp” within a circle, and “PEDERSOLI – BLACK POWDER ONLY / SHARPS 32” – MADE IN ITALY /16 cal. 45”. The bottom right of the breech block is marked with an Italian proof mark.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a tall blade slotted into a base that is dovetailed to the front of the barrel. The rear sight is a flip up elevator with a sliding U-notch leaf. The elevator is marked 2-8 and is dovetailed and screwed to the barrel.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece checkered walnut with a straight grip, straight comb, and a case colored carbine style buttplate. The stocks show no imperfections that are worth noting. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 14” and 13 1/8” from the fronts of the triggers to the back of the buttplate. The plate shows a few very light marks. The stocks rate in about Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is deep and sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 93% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows muting of the case coloring on the receiver. The strongest remaining case color is on the bottom, top, and hammer. There are light handling marks. The screw heads are lightly tool marked with strong slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine-Plus condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: This is a clean Pedersoli reproduction of a Sharps 1863 Sporting rifle that was manufactured in 2016. The rifle is in about Fine condition with 93% finish remaining. This rifle would make do for hunting as well as some informal target shooting at the range. It is also commonly used for reenactments. Please see our photos and good luck!
