Our Assessment: The Ruger M77 is a robust Bolt-Action rifle designed in 1968 by L. James Sullivan during his short three-years of work with Ruger. Intended to be a modernized Mauser 98, and featured simplified ejector updates and a newly designed safety system. This rifle dates back to 1976, several years before the first major M77 re-tooling in 1991—the major indicator is the original grip tang safety. It retains a classic Ruger look. Most notably, this is what is colloquially known as a ‘Liberty’ gun, note the “200th Year of American Liberty” mark on the barrel. Most Ruger firearms made in 1976 are stamped as such. In Fine condition, this rifle is free of any major wear or damage, save for some notable marks on the stock and  few less than noticeable nicks on the barrel. The bore is bright and the included scope is in decent shape—this firearm is quickly becoming a classic, don’t sleep on it, drop a bid. Good luck and happy bidding!
