Our Assessment: This is a Model 52 bolt action rifle from Cooper Firearms of Montana. Cooper made their way into the rifle market producing high-quality rifles at “affordable” prices, though their quality means that affordable is in relation to rifles such as Blaser, Dakota, and other high-end manufacturers. Beginning in 1990 a handful of former employees from Kimber of Oregon, with over 50 years in combined experience, set out to design and build the finest production rifles made in the United States. They have been known as one of the top makers of bolt action rifles ever since. Some brands claim their rifles are “the best”, “top of the line”, “the finest quality” but Cooper doesn’t need to say anything at all…their products speak for themselves. Their quality and beauty is so immense that to celebrate their 175th Anniversary, COLT commissioned Cooper to build rifles for them. When you are selected to make another company’s commemorative rifle, especially a company as historic as COLT, it speaks volumes. This model 52 has beautiful scroll engraving and is adorned with a 24 kt rampant Colt on the magazine and 2k kt “COLT” logo on the left of the receiver. The barreled action is a rich blued finish and the barreled action is set in an AA+ Claro walnut stock. The grip cap also has limited edition markings that read “Limited / Edition / 1 of 175”. They only made 175 of these true works of art and this one is number 156. This one comes with a box and paperwork to complete the package and will add to any collection lucky enough to have it. Coopers are damn impressive and collectible as is, but throw in the name COLT and a low production number with the beautiful finishing and engraving and this is almost an embarrassment of riches, it’s just that gorgeous. This is a wonderful rifle Cooper and COLT won’t be making any more of, this one even appears to be unfired! Please see our photos and good luck!
Some are hot, some are not, but thankfully most can be shot!
