Our Assessment: Colt is the original maker of the John Browning designed Model 1911 pistol, and continues to manufacture pistols based on the original today, more than 100 years later. The design has been updated a number of times throughout the year, and this example is one of the most modern there is. With skeletonized hammer and trigger, forward slide serrations, extended beavertail grip safety, under-cut trigger guard, and a 1913 Picatinny rail on the dust cover, this Colt Rail Gun represents the current evolution of the pistol which served the US Armed Forces through two World Wars.
This example is from Colt’s Custom Shop with the slide hand-engraved with foliate scroll on each side, one of 50 such guns from this limited edition. The pistol is in Excellent condition, appearing to have spent more time in its original box than out. This pistol would make for a great personal defense pistol, BBQ gun, or just an addition to a Colt collection representing the latest generation of the 1911. Please see our photos and good luck!
