The rear right edge of the rear upper handguard has a chip missing. There are no visible cracks. The buttplate has been refinished and shows rub wear around the edges. The plate also shows some surface rust beginning to form. Overall the stock is in Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is semi dull and the rifling is well defined. There is minor visible pitting/erosion throughout the bore. Our gauges show a muzzle of .95 and a throat of 5. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 6/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 97% of its metal finish. The finish shows minor scattered marks and lines. The finish on the trigger group and receiver have turned green with age. There is some discoloration present from old oil. The markings are mostly clear and the screw heads are sharp. Overall this rifle is in Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle includes an Uncle Mikes leather sling.
Our Assessment: This Springfield Armory M1 Garand was originally manufactured in December 1941, just as the United States was entering World War II. It has since been rebarreled with a Springfield Armory barrel dated 3-67, reflecting postwar maintenance or refurbishment, likely during its service life or prior to import. The rifle was brought into the civilian market by EXEL of Gardner, MA. While it no longer retains its original barrel, it remains a functional example of America’s legendary WWII service rifle.
Designed by John C. Garand and adopted in 1936, the M1 Garand was the first standard-issue semi-automatic rifle for a major military power. Its gas-operated, en bloc clip-fed design provided U.S. troops with a decisive rate-of-fire advantage over bolt-action-armed adversaries. General George S. Patton famously hailed it as “the greatest battle implement ever devised,” a testament to its effectiveness and reliability. This rifle, combining an early wartime receiver with a Vietnam-era replacement barrel, embodies the long service life and enduring legacy of the M1 Garand across decades of U.S. military history.
