The LOP measures about 13.25” from the front of the trigger to the back of the butt plate. The wood has been sanded and refinished. The wood shows scattered surface level lines and minor compressions. The handguard shows several chips around the rivets and the rear edge that have been finished over. There is a notable scuff just behind the nose on the belly. There are no visible cracks. The sling cut shows chips around the edges. The butt plate has sharp checkering, retains most of its finish but shows surface rust scattered throughout. Overall this stock is in Good+-Very Good condition.

The friction surfaces of the bolt and receiver show minimal rub wear. The rifle’s finish has turned brown with age in many places. The inside of the trigger guard shows surface rust. The rifle shows some minor scattered marks from handling. The rifle appears to have had very little use since the refinish. The markings are clear and the screw heads are sharp. Overall this rifle is in Good+ condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our assessment:  This Inland Division M1 Carbine made circa June 1943, paired with its original June 1943 Inland barrel, offers a desirable level of wartime originality from one of the primary WWII manufacturers. Inland carbines from this period are known for their correct mid-war features, proper machining, and dependable performance, and this receiver-and-barrel date match presents a solid representation from the heart of 1943 production.

The stock bears a “-U-” marking, consistent with a post-war inspection or refurbishment associated with Underwood, giving the rifle the typical service history seen on most carbines returned to depots after WWII. Even though the stock was sanded and refinished it is an Inland stock with the right profile and fit for a mid-war Inland. A standout feature of the stock is the presence of the relatively rare Standard Products recoil lug. Altogether, this carbine offers an appealing blend of matching wartime core components with some markings to support its service history, making it a strong choice for someone wanting a historically authentic Inland that retains both collectible merit and practical shootability.
