Markings: The left side of the slide is marked “MK. I*”, with two Chinese characters, “BROWNING F.N. 9MM H.P” and “INGLIS, CANDA” in front of the slide serrations. The right of the barrel, slide and frame are each marked “4CH4103”. The right of the slide and frame have crossed flag proof markings. The butt has inspection marks and “BTC / E M CA” import mark.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a serrated, tapered blade dovetailed to a boss at the front of the slide. The rear sight is a “V”-notch tangent sight in a base integral to the slide. The arm is graduated from “50” to “500” meters.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece checkered black synthetic grips. The inside of each grip panel has “CL” inscribed in a “D” or bullet. The grips show scattered light nicks, scuffs and scratches. The checkering is well defined. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in about Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is gray and the rifling is sharp. There is scattered light erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 70% of its metal finish. The finish is thinning at all edges. There is scattered finish wear, most notable in the grip areas and the bottom of the dust cover. There are several scattered light nicks, scuffs and scratches. There is infrequent scattered minor erosion. The screw heads range from sharp to tool marked with strong slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol is in about Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. It has a frame mounted safety and the round hammer has a half cock safety position. This pistol still has a functioning magazine disconnect and the trigger pull is crisp. The slide has light play on the frame. We have not fired this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes with a single 13-round magazine and a wood stock/holster. The magazine has moderate operational wear, slight discoloration from oxidation, intact feed lips and a strong spring, in about Good-plus condition. The holster has Chinese characters stamped on one side and a few scattered minor nicks and scratches. There are some more notable compressions clustered around the release button. Overall, the stock/holster is in about Very Good-Fine condition.
Our Assessment: This is an Inglis MK I* pistol made for the Chinese Nationalist military in 1943-1944. The Toronto-based Inglis company produced this copy of the FN P35, better known now as the Hi Power, during WWII for both Canadian armed forces and for the Chinese Nationalists. Some were also procured by the British SOE for use in their operations. This example was produced during WWII for the Chinese, and has Chinese markings on the slide. Sometime between 1968 and now, it made its way back across the world to America. The pistol is in Very Good condition with about 70% of its metal finish, a good bore and strong mechanics. This will make a great addition to a WWII small arms or Hi Power collection. Please see our photos and good luck!
