Sights / Optics: The front sight is a serrated blade dovetailed into the slide. The rear sight is a fixed “U”-notch integral to the slide.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece checkered wood panels. There are light handling marks present. The grips rate in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright, the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion in the bore. There is light stubborn fouling present. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 9/10.
Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 80% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows light operational wear. The screw heads are sharp. The pins are unmarred. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol rates in about Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this pistol. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: This Mauser S/42 P.08 Luger is a classic example of one of the most iconic service pistols of the 20th century. Produced in 1941, this example is marked with both the “41” date code and the “42” Mauser manufacturing code. These pistols were standard issue for German forces during World War II and are highly collectible for their mechanical precision and historic significance.
The serialized small parts, proper military acceptance markings, and original finish make this a solid representative piece. The correct wooden grips and included period-correct magazine further enhance its collector value, especially given its very good condition and sharp bore. This would make a great addition to any collection focused on World War II firearms or German military sidearms.
