Our Assessment: This is a vintage pre-1964 Winchester Model 70 rifle chambered in .270 Winchester and made in 1951, just ahead of its 1952 commercial availability. The is the “Standard Rifle” version with monte-carlo stock and is one of the most popular styles in one of the most popular chamberings. With its high velocity and excellent ballistics coefficient, the .270 Winchester makes for a great hunting rifle where longer shots may need to be taken, it makes a fine long-range target rifle as well. This is a beautiful rifle in a great hunting cartridge that is ready to bag some game. That said, the Pre-64 Winchesters have high collector interest, and this would be a good addition to a Winchester collection. Please see our photos and good luck!
