Our Assessment: This is a vintage pre-1964 Winchester Model 70 Featherweight rifle chambered in .308 Winchester and made in 1954. The rifle is in Very Good condition, showing light to moderate wear and responsible use. It retains a bright bore and tip top mechanics. The Featherweight was quite popular, making up nearly a quarter of all Winchester Model 70 production before 1964, and the .308 Win Chambering was also sought after, with 41,000 rifles being chambered for the well rounded cartridge. The .308 is a popular choice for big game hunting, such as mule deer and whitetail, and is also used for target shooting and metallic silhouette. It’s considered very potent for a standard short action cartridge, and most shooters can tolerate its recoil. Please see our photos, good luck and happy bidding! – L.S.
