Our Assessment:
Winchester’s Model 94 hardly needs introduction—the archetypal American sporting lever gun that carried the .30-30 across the continent also appeared in a host of special runs. In 1980, Winchester produced this Saskatchewan Diamond Jubilee edition to mark the province’s 75th anniversary, dressing a Model 94 carbine in ornate scrollwork and prairie scenes with a matching stock medallion and graphic box. It’s a handsome package that neatly ties a classic rifle to western Canadian history—from wheat fields to Mounties—while keeping the lines and handling that made the ’94 a field favorite.

Chambered in .38-55 Winchester, the rifle nods to one of the 19th century’s great black-powder sporting cartridges, introduced in the 1880s and later modernized for smokeless use. Known for mild recoil and excellent accuracy with heavy lead bullets, the .38-55 is historically linked to Ballard and Marlin target rifles and served as a parent to the later .375 Winchester. In a carbine like this, it offers vintage charm with practical performance for those who enjoy traditional loads.

Condition here is superb—sharp wood, vivid blue, and an untouched coin-finish receiver that showcases the commemorative engraving. With its original presentation box and a low SDJ-prefix serial, this is a clean, display-ready commemorative that still embodies the fast-handling character of the Model 94. We are no longer offering layaway.   KF
