Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “WINCHESTER/MADE IN U.S.A. ®” and “30-30”.  The right of the barrel is marked “Model 94 Winchester Classic”.  The underside of the frame is marked with the serial number.  Both sides of the receiver are engraved in freud-de-lis borders.

Barrel Length: 20″

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a beaded blade set in a dovetail on the octagonal barrel at the muzzle.  The rear sight is a “U” notch leaf and elevator dovetailed to the barrel. The left side of the receiver is drilled, tapped, and filled in two places for side mounting an optic (not included).

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece wood with a capped forearm, straight grip, straight comb, and checkered steel butt plate. The buttstock has a little mark on the comb and some faint oil stains on the side of the wrist. The LOP measures 13 1/2” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The plate shows no wear. The stocks rate in Fine-Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright. There is no erosion. There is fouling on the lands.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. There is a faint mark on the bottom of the magazine tube. The left front edge of the receiver shows two small spots of finish loss with oxidation. The right side of the receiver has a spot of dried grease. The markings are sharp. The crew heads are sharp. There is a saddle ring on the left of the receiver.  Overall, the rifle rates in about Fine-Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The locking bolt and safety lever has some oxidation, making the action a bit stiff. We have not fired this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes in its original serial matching box with paperwork, no manual though.

Our Assessment: The Model 1894 has been referred to as the “ultimate lever-action design” by firearms historians such as R. L. Wilson and Hal Herring. The Model 1894 is the rifle credited with the name “Winchester” being used to refer to all rifles of this type and was the first commercial sporting rifle to sell over 7,000,000 units. This rifle is in beautiful condition with 98% of its original finish remaining. The action will need a little lubricating. Please see our photos and good luck!
