Markings: The right side of the receiver is decorated in gold with an eagle flying in front of a flag, a flintlock “Dixie”-style pistol, and a minute man with a “Banner of Liberty” at his feet. The left side of the receiver depicts scenes of hunters and shooters — male, female, child and grandfather — and carries a gold banner that reads “Friends of NRA Celebrating 10 Years.” The left side of the barrel is stamped “WINCHESTER / MODEL 94 AE / CAL. 30-30, WIN. / MADE IN NEW HAVEN CONN. U.S.A. / WINCHESTER-PROOF STEEL” and the WP-in-oval proof is present near the chamber. The serial number on the belly of the receiver matches the label on the factory box.

Barrel Length: 20″

Sights / Optics: Factory beaded front sight under a protective hood and a semi-buckhorn rear sight dovetailed to the barrel with elevator for elevation settings.

Stock Configuration & Condition: Walnut stock with hard-rubber buttplate has a straight grip and matching fore-end. Wood and hard rubber show factory-new condition with no visible handling wear; checkering, edges, and finish are intact and crisp. Large-loop lever is present and correct for this presentation model. The buttplate shows light storage bloom that wipes away.

Type of Finish: Factory blued metal with gold inlay/engraved presentation motifs on the receiver.

Finish Originality / Percentage of Finish Retained: Original factory finish; estimated finish retention 100%.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright, the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion in the bore.  In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10/10.

Mechanics: The action cycles smoothly on the large-loop lever; the hammer and trigger function positively. The rifle is unfired, unchambered, and unloaded. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment:

The mix of decorative engraving and preserved factory condition positions this rifle squarely as a collector’s presentation example rather than a field shooter.
