In the rear position, the safety blocks the trigger and the bolt. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment: The Winchester Model 70 XTR Featherweight in .257 Roberts is an elegant fusion of classic design and field-ready performance, built on the Post-’64 push feed action. As one of the less common calibers in the Featherweight lineup, this .257 Roberts version strikes a superb balance between flat-shooting ballistics and manageable recoil, making it a phenomenal choice for deer, antelope, and varmints alike.
This example sports the classic Featherweight configuration—schnabel forend, metal-capped pistol grip, and Winchester’s red rubber buttpad. The blued finish is deep and even, showing nearly no wear, and the checkering is crisp and well-defined. The stock shows only the faintest signs of use, indicating this rifle has seen more time in the cabinet than in the field.
Mechanically sound and featuring Winchester’s push-feed action with a three-position safety, this is a rifle you can trust in any hunting situation. The bore is flawless, the condition is near mint, and the .257 Roberts chambering is a nod to one of the most beloved—and now increasingly rare—medium game cartridges. If you’re a collector of vintage Winchesters or simply looking for a premium rifle in a classic chambering, this Featherweight delivers both function and finesse.
