Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “-WINCHESTER MODEL 70 223 WSSM- / -MADE IN NEW HAVEN, CT U.S.A.-“, the top rear has an ovalled “WP” proof. The right of the receiver is marked with the serial number. The bolt body has “8580” hand-scribed.

Sights / Optics: The top of the receiver is drilled, tapped and filled to accept optic mounts (none included). There is no provision for iron sights.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a one-piece smooth brown laminate wood with pistol grip, straight comb, black rubber Winchester buttpad and sling studs front and rear. The stock has no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. There are no chips or cracks. The LOP measures 13 3/4″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the pad. The pad is supple with no notable wear. Overall, the stock is in Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. The magazine floorplate has a light mark at the right-front and the action shows very minor operational wear. Otherwise, there are only light handling marks. The screw heads are sharp, the markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The bolt is a Control-Round-Push-Feed (CRPF). There is a bolt release on the left rear of the receiver. The safety is mounted at the back of the bolt on the right side. It has three positions. Pushed all the way forwards, the safety is off and ready to fire. In the middle position, the safety blocks the trigger, but allows the bolt to be opened for loading and unloading. In the rear position, the safety blocks the trigger and the bolt. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes in a brown cardboard Winchester box with serial-matching label and an assortment of factory paperwork including manual. The box has scattered light storage wear, a puncture on the top of the lid and a tape-repaired tear on the long-ear of the lid, in about Good condition.
Our Assessment: This is a Winchester Model 70 Coyote Stainless Laminated rifle chambered in .223 WSSM. It has a 24” medium-heavy stainless barrel and blued receiver mounted in an attractive brown laminate wood stock. The rifle is in about Excellent condition with 98% of its finish remaining and little sign of use. The bore is bright with sharp rifling and the mechanics are solid. The .223 WSSM is capable of breaking 4,500 fps muzzle velocity and with a wide variety of .224 bullet profiles and weights available, it is a great choice for long-range varmint hunting as well as people who are just velocity junkies.
