Our Assessment: The Winchester 1897 has served millions of Americans as the go-to shotgun for the home, trench, field or cowboy shooting. It is one of the most produced American shotguns, and for good reason. The action is strong and reliable, designed by John Moses Browning, it takes down easily, yet functions simply and indefinitely. This model 1897 has survived the years, over 100 of them now, and shows wear consistent with its age and use in the field. This Winchester has a good bore, strong mechanics and could be returned to the field for another 100 years. Please see our photos, good luck and happy bidding!
