Markings: Most of the barrel address is worn to the point that it is not legible, but “12” is still legible at the top-rear and “FULL” on the left-rear. The bottom of the receiver at the front is marked “315702”, the bottom of the barrel extension is marked “315702”. The action bar is marked “MODEL 1897 / -WINCHESTER- / TRADE MARK”.
Barrel Length: The barrel has been cut to 20 3/4″.
Choke: Cylinder Bore, Fixed
Sights / Optics: There is a brass bead at the muzzle.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece wood with grooved slide-handle, smooth semi-pistol grip, straight comb and checkered steel buttplate. The stocks have scattered nicks, dings, scuffs and scratches. There is a repaired chip-loss at the toe and some minor chips and cracks at the heel. The LOP measures 13 7/8″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The plate has wear at the heel and toe with well defined checkering. Overall, the stocks are in about Good-Very Good condition as refinished and repaired.

Bore Condition: The bore is gray. There is erosion and pitting scattered through the bore.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 90% of its current metal finish. There are some scattered light nicks, scuffs and scratches. There are some more notable nicks and scrapes on the bottom of the barrel behind the magazine bracket. The magazine tube has some erosion under the finish behind the bracket. The action shows operational wear. There is some light surface oxidation inside the action. The screw heads range from sharp to tool marked with strong slots. The markings range from clear to removed. Overall, this shotgun is in about Good condition as refinished and would rate higher but for the bore condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The trigger is crisp. This shotgun will slam-fire as designed. We did not fire this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
