Our Assessment: This Winchester Model 1895 Saddle Ring Carbine Special Grade, a 2006 production in .30-40 Krag, is a superb modern interpretation of a storied military design. The 22″ barrel, ladder rear sight and dovetailed brass front present a period-correct silhouette, while the smooth walnut stocks with banded, finger-grooved forend and carbine-style steel buttplate show little to no handling wear. Cosmetically the rifle is exceptional — approximately 99% of the blued finish remains, screw heads are sharp, markings are crisp, and the bore is bright with sharp rifling rated 10/10 — a presentation that will satisfy condition-conscious collectors.

Functionally the lever locks up with positive engagement and the action cycles with the solid, confident feel expected of a Special Grade build. Between its historically respectful styling, premium fit and finish, and excellent condition, this SRC is an attractive lot for buyers who value a high-quality modern Winchester that wears classic lines with authority.
