The left of the receiver has been drilled and tapped for a receiver sight (none present). Based on the rear hole removing some of the patent marking, the holes were drilled outside the factory.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece smooth walnut with a schnabel-tip forend with triangular ebony inlay, straight grip, straight comb and steel crescent buttplate. The stocks have light-moderate handling wear with scattered nicks, dings, scuffs and scratches. There are patch repairs on each side of the wrist. The forend has cracking in the nose and a crack at a chip-loss on the bottom-rear. The wrist has two cracks at the rear of the top tang, more notable to the left which goes past the front of the comb, a crack in the left of the wrist and a crack at the rear of the top tang. There are a few short, thin, grain-line cracks at the buttplate. The buttstock has some play to the receiver. The LOP measures 12 3/4″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The plate has worn to white with scattered light discoloration and erosion. Overall, the stocks are in about Good condition as repaired and refinished.
Type of Finish: Blued
Finish Originality: Original to the parts, the lever appears to be a replacement part from a military rifle.
Bore Condition: The bore is dark gray. The rifling is worn, but visible. There is light-moderate erosion throughout the bore, most in the grooves.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 5% of its metal finish. The bottom tang is cracked through behind the lever-latch. Remaining finish is only in protected areas such as the bottom tang and parts concealed when the action is closed. The remainder of the surfaces have worn to white or gone to a patina ranging from light to dark and thick. There are some scattered nicks, dings, scuffs and scratches with patches of solid erosion. The action shows operational wear. The screw heads range from sharp to tool marked with strong slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in about Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly, however the bottom tang is cracked through just behind the lever latch. The hammer has a half-cock safety. The lever lock-up is good and the trigger is crisp. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None.
