Our Assessment: This Winchester Model 1894 was manufactured in 1899, making it a true turn-of-the-century example of one of the most successful and enduring lever-action rifles ever designed. Chambered in the then-new .30-30 WCF cartridge—Winchester’s first commercial smokeless powder round—this rifle bridges the era between black powder repeaters and the dawn of modern sporting arms. With its 26” round barrel and full-length mag tube, it would’ve been a highly capable and practical choice for hunters and settlers alike at the time. Though the bore is heavily eroded and the finish shows extensive wear from honest use, this rifle still carries the character of a piece that likely spent decades in the field. Its clear markings, original finish, and furniture contribute to its appeal as a survivor from the first five years of 1894 production. Please see our photos and good luck on your bid! – L.S.
