Our Assessment: The Winchester Model 1894 is one of the most iconic American rifles ever produced, and this early example—manufactured in 1898—qualifies as an Antique under federal law. It’s chambered in the classic .32-40 Winchester, a cartridge popular in the late 19th century for both target shooting and medium game hunting due to its accuracy and manageable recoil.
The 1894 was the first commercial sporting rifle designed to handle smokeless powder cartridges, and its robust yet elegant design made it a favorite among outdoorsmen, ranchers, and lawmen alike. This rifle features a full 26” octagon barrel and retains crisp Winchester markings, adding historical value for collectors.
Whether you’re a Winchester enthusiast, lever-action aficionado, or antique arms collector, this is a highly desirable rifle with both functional and historical appeal. Please see our high quality photos and good luck on your bid! -M.C.
