Our Assessment: This is a Winchester Model 1892 Rifle made in 1894 and chambered in .38-40 Winchester. This rifle is in about Very Good condition as Antique with about 35% of its original finish remaining. The rifle shows honest wear for its age and retains strong mechanics. The .38-40 Win. cartridge was a popular cartridge in its day which split the difference between the power of the .44-40 and .32-20 cartridges. With some remaining original finish and pre-1899 manufacture date, this rifle should be of interest to the Winchester collectors and could be restored and taken back out in the field. Please see our photos and good luck!
