Overall, the stocks are in about Very Good condition as refinished.

Bore Condition: The bore is generally bright and the rifling is well defined. There is light erosion throughout. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 6.5/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 65% of its current metal finish. The balance of this finish shows operational wear. There are scratches, scuffs, and small nicks throughout. Most of the receiver has turned to a dark patina color with faint amounts of finish reserved around the hammer and tangs. There are impact marks around the bottom edges of the receiver. The screw heads range from sharp to tooled with usable slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The hammer has a half-cock safety position. The trigger is crisp. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None.
Our Assessment: This Winchester Model 1892 in .25-20 with a 24” Round barrel is a classic lever-action rifle designed by John Browning and introduced in 1892 as a stronger, more compact successor to the Model 1873. Built on a scaled-down version of the robust Model 1886 action, the 1892 quickly gained favor among hunters and ranchers for its smooth cycling and lightweight design. The .25-20 WCF chambering, derived from the .32-20, was introduced in the 1890s as a varmint and small-game round, offering mild recoil and effective accuracy for its intended purposes.
Highly regarded by collectors and enthusiasts, the Winchester 1892 remains a sought-after rifle. The rifle was produced until 1941, with early-production examples commanding premium value. Its enduring reputation is bolstered by its frequent appearances in Hollywood Westerns, further cementing its legacy as one of Winchester’s finest lever guns. Whether as a collectible or a functional piece of history, the Model 1892 in .25-20 remains a testament to the quality and ingenuity of Winchester’s golden era of firearms manufacturing.
