Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “WINCHESTER ® MODEL 1200 POLICE 12 GA. 2 ¾” & 3””, “MADE IN NEW HAVEN CONN. U.S.A.” and “WINCHESTER REPEATING PROOF STEEL”. The bottom of the receiver is marked with the serial number “L1319818”. The left side of the grip is marked “CHOATE TOOL”. The buttpad is marked “CHOATE / TOOL / CORP”.  The side saddle is marked “SIDE SADDLE ® / PATENT PENDING” and “ADVENTURER’S OUTPOST / COTTONWOOD ARIZONA”.

Sights/ Optics:  The front sight is an orange bead at the muzzle. The top of the receiver is serrated to reduce glare.

Stock Configuration & Condition/ Grip: The stocks are two-piece black synthetic with a folding buttstock that has a flat comb, checkered pistol grip, black rubber buttpad and corncob style forearm on the slide.  The buttstock has some handling wear, but the folding mechanism still works normally. The pistol grip has some handling marks, nicks and scratches. The checkering on the grip remains sharp. The forearm has adhesive residue on the right side and some scattered handling marks. The buttpad has some minor wear. The LOP is 15” from the trigger to the buttpad. Overall, the stocks are in Very Good condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright. There is no erosion.

Overall Condition: The shotgun retains about 95% of its finish. There are some scattered  handling and storage marks, scratches and nicks.Notably, the tubular magazine has scratches on both sides where the forearm slides. The markings remain clear. The screwheads remain sharp. Overall, this shotgun is in Fine condition.

Mechanics:The action functions correctly. We have not fired this shotgun. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box Paperwork and Accessories: The shotgun comes with an attached side saddle on the left side of the receiver. It can hold 6 shells. The side saddle has some handling wear, but it remains in Excellent condition.

Our Assessment: This Winchester model 1200 is a 12 gauge pump action shotgun that takes 2 ¾ and 3” shells. The shotgun has a custom folding stock that makes it easier to store and pistol grip for better handling. The side saddle is also a nice addition for those who need to carry more shells, or just reload faster. This shotgun is well designed for home defense. Goodluck on your bid!
