Our Assessment: The Winchester Model 1895 was the last lever-action rifle designed by John Browning for Winchester and represented a major departure from earlier tube-fed designs, using an internal box magazine that allowed it to chamber high-powered, pointed bullets. This Miroku-produced Saddle Ring Carbine, chambered in .30-06 Springfield, pays tribute to that innovation while delivering modern precision manufacturing. The SRC configuration, with its 22″ barrel, saddle ring, and compact handling, was favored by cavalry units and hunters alike, and the .30-06 chambering offers exceptional versatility for North American game. The combination of historical design and modern metallurgy makes this rifle both a capable shooter and a collectible tribute to one of Browning’s finest designs.

This 2006 example is in Excellent condition, retaining about 99% of its original blued finish with a perfect 10/10 bore, sharp markings, and crisp mechanics. The walnut stocks show only minimal handling evidence, and the rifle remains complete with its original serial-matching box and paperwork. For collectors of Winchester history, admirers of John Browning’s work, or shooters seeking a unique lever-action capable of handling modern hunting cartridges, this 1895 Saddle Ring Carbine offers a rare blend of Old West heritage and 20th-century firepower in a beautifully made package.
