The stock and sights are described below.

Barrel Length: Approximately 24 Inches

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade set between two protective wings. The rear sight is a fully adjustable aperture set between two protective wings. The windage knob is marked “left arrow” twice.  The elevation knob is marked from “2-12” in increments of two and “UP arrow DOWN arrow / BATTLE triangle RANGE”.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The bottom of the grip is marked with a “circled P” proof.
The hardwood stock has a pistol grip, metal nose caps, stacking loop, two sling loops and a metal buttplate with hinged door for storage in the butt. The buttplate shows small scrapes & scratches. The bottom of the butt is missing surface wood at the buttplate. The wood shows several scrapes, scratches and compression marks. Some have damaged or removed small portions of the surface wood. Most of these marks have been oiled over. The LOP measures 13 ? inches from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Very Good overall condition.

Type of Finish: Parkerized

Finish Originality: Original to Rebuild

Bore Condition: The lands are bright.The muzzle and grooves are semi bright. The rifling is deep. There is fouling and intermittent light erosion in the grooves near the muzzle. The fouling should clean up some. The bore shows an M.E. of 0.2. The throat shows a T.E. of 1.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 96% of its metal finish. The gas cylinder has been refinished in black. It shows scrapes & scratches which have removed areas of the finish. The metal shows scuffs and light scrapes. The right side of the receiver and front of the bolt show some light thinning from cycling. Most of the markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good Plus condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: A 4 piece cleaning rod & loop and a combination tool are stored in the butt. The items show soiling, cosmoline and scrapes. They are in about Very Good overall condition.  

Our Assessment: This Winchester M1 Garand was made back in 1943. It has since been rebuilt using a mix of Springfield & Winchester parts. The rifle looks good and has a bore that will be putting .30-06 downrange for a long time to come. This WWII M1 Garand is in nice shape for a service rifle that is almost 80 years old. It will add to your Military collection.
