Our Assessment:
The Winchester Grand European XTR is one of the finest double rifles ever imported under the Winchester name, hand-built by Miroku in Japan using the proven 101-series action as its foundation. Introduced in the early 1980s, these rifles were produced in limited numbers and offered exclusively in paired rifle calibers, such as this .270 Winchester over .270 Winchester configuration.
The .270 Winchester cartridge, introduced in 1925 by Winchester, became one of the most enduring and versatile hunting rounds of the 20th century—famed for its flat trajectory, moderate recoil, and performance on deer and antelope-sized game. Pairing two .270 barrels in an over/under layout created a unique blend of European elegance and American practicality, providing immediate second-shot capability with matched point of impact.
This example’s deep scroll engraving, game scenes, and exhibition-grade wood elevate it to the pinnacle of Winchester’s sporting line. With its original matching box, high finish percentage, and exceptional mechanical condition, this Grand European XTR represents both a rare collectible and a functional work of art from an era when Winchester and Miroku craftsmanship met perfection. So bid high and bid firm. I encourage you to take a look at the condition of the revolver in our high-quality photos. Good luck with your bid. -K.F.
