Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “WINCHESTER ® MODEL 9422M .22 WIN. MAGNUM / MADE IN NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A.—WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL”. The top rear of the barrel is marked with the Winchester proof. The underside of the receiver and forward portion of the guard assembly are marked with the serial number, “F736407”. The buttplate has the Winchester logo.
Barrel Length: 20 1/2”
Sights/Optics: The front sight is brass beaded blade with protective hood dovetailed into a ramped base that is fixed to the barrel. The rear sight is a u-notch leaf with a white triangle aim guide and an elevator piece that is dovetailed to the rear of the barrel. Equipped to the top of the receiver via two rings is a Simmons Model 1022 optic with a duplex reticle and a fixed 4x magnification. The scope shows hardly any notable wear and the lenses are clear. The optic rates in about Excellent condition.
Stock Configuration and Condition: Two-piece checkered wood with straight grip, straight comb, and checkered composition buttplate. There is a sling swivel in the belly and the bottom of the mag tube bracket. There are two white marks at the rear of the buttstock on the right side. There is faint crazing in the finish on the belly. Other than that, there is only light handling wear. The checkering is sharp. There are no chips or cracks. The length of pull is 13 3/4” from the front of the trigger to the back of the plate. The plate is free of any notable wear or damage. Overall, the stocks rate in Fine-Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp. There is scattered faint erosion nearer the muzzle.
Overall Condition: The rifle retains about 99% of its finish. There is no notable wear worth mentioning on the metal, only light operational wear on the bolt. The screw heads are sharp and all markings are clear. Overall, the rifle is in Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The lever action is smooth. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box Paperwork and Accessories: This 9422M includes the previously mentioned Simmons scope.
Our Assessment: The Winchester 9422M is a late-era lever action rifle that makes the best of the storied functionality and dependability of the rifles that came before it. The rifle was rather popular in the time it was manufactured, starting in 1972 and going until 2005. This example was manufactured in 1999, but one would be hard-pressed to believe it given its overall high condition. This rifle is an ideal choice for those new to shooting, or for parents that want their children to begin taking the responsibility of being a shooter.
