Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98-99%% of its metal finish. There are scattered minute handling marks on the blue, a few tiny freckles from storage near the front band, and light handling on the gold-tone receiver and bands. The screw heads are sharp. The markings and engraving are crisp. Overall, this rifle rates in Fine-to-Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action cycles smoothly, the trigger breaks cleanly, and the safety functions properly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Accessories: Original Annie Oakley Commemorative picture box with matching end label. (Inner inserts or papers not included.)

Our Assessment: Winchester’s Model 9422 (introduced in 1972) quickly became the .22 lever rifle by which modern rimfires were judged—steel barrel and magazine tube, slick rack-and-pinion action, and the look and feel of a centerfire lever scaled for rimfire duty. In the early U.S. Repeating Arms era, Winchester celebrated America’s most iconic exhibition shooter with this Annie Oakley Commemorative on the deluxe 9422 XTR platform, featuring deep-polish blue, select walnut, and gold-tone, scroll-engraved receiver scenes. Annie Oakley—given the name “Little Sure Shot” by Sitting Bull—was the star of Buffalo Bill’s Wild West and a symbol of disciplined marksmanship and showmanship in the late 19th century. Paired with the 9422’s reputation for accuracy and smooth operation, this commemorative neatly bridges Winchester’s lever-gun heritage with Oakley’s legend. With its matching box and high condition, it’s a handsome piece for the Winchester rimfire or Old West display that still has all the practical charm of the 9422 on the range. We are no longer offering layaway.  KF
